Women Who Lead at Florida International Univeristy (FIU)

I enjoyed the Women Who Lead conference at FIU. I had the opportunity to attend the Women Entrepreneurs Panel, Women In Technolgy Panel and Develop your Leadership Plan Workshop. It was inspiring to hear how one of the women entrepreneurs took her company public, how their leadership has affected their family, and how they overcame challenges. The main topic at Women In Technology was why there has been a 50% decrease of women students majoring in technology. What I learned about leadership is that being a leader is not telling others what to do but understanding how to service others in your organization to help and teach them to be the best they can be. A successful business is based on the team of people and understanding how to work well with each other.
I also had the opportunity to network with the panelists and meet students seeking internship opportunities. I had a booth set up during the reception and have it down to 5 good candidates.
